The All New Porsche 911 is here!

We had the pleasure of testing it a couple of weeks ago! We managed to get an impression of the car, however to really test it we need to take it to the Norwegian mountains in the future! It deserves to be driven on roads that demand from the car.

The 911 gets your heart pumping faster just by getting in to the car. We drove our first modern 911 - the 2018 Porsche Carrera T just a few months ago. The difference between the 991 and the 992 is noticeable in many ways! The 992 is wider with an all new body with increased performance and enhanced assistance systems.

The history:

Porsche started making cars in 1948 - 71 years ago. Since 1963 they have with this final edition of the 911, given us 8 editions of the car.

The 911 was introduced as the 901 at the Frankfurt IAA Motor Show in 1963! It was then introduced as the 911 in 1964.

The first 911 had an air-cooled six-cylinder flat engine with two-litre displacement delivering 130 hp, giving it an impressive top speed of 210 km per hour.

Now, 56 years later the 2020 911 Carrera 4S still has six-cylinders, but now with a Twin-turbo. This gives us 450 hp and and a impressive top speed of 306 km per hour. The engine is powered by an all new 8-speed PDK automatic transmission.

The drive:

According to Porsches press release the car has more muscles, more power, and is more emotional! How can we disagree? Cars are about emotions, feelings and just plain fun in this category of car. The only thing we noticed is that due to noise regulations the new 911 is more quiet than the 991. Still the engineers at Porsche have managed to still give the car the beautiful sound of a Porsche flat six-cylinder. The sound and power of 443 hp behind your back is heavenly.

The looks:

The new look is amazing. However there is still no doubt that this is a Porsche 911! The contour is pure 911! The front is more supercar than earlier models. The third brake light integrated in the engine lid. Notice that the vertical brake lights also make for the number 11 with 9 vertical black lines on the left side. The taillight strip is a nice feature as well where several German carmakers have done this a while. The all new rear spoiler is also larger than before and gives better performance when needed.

Inside:

The interior is really nice! Characterized by a clear and straight line on the dashboard and recessed instruments. The rev counter in the center as always of course! The seats are out of this world and they grab your body and do not let you go until you pull yourself out of them. Porsche has used details from the early models to be true to its heritage, but still evolving with the new 10.9 inch touchscreen with integrated Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and lots more!

The verdict:

At the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart the entire team that make the 911 possible just can’t disappoint us in any way. The 911 is and will always be a reference to any carmaker trying to make a sports car. The heritage lives on and on in this car with the heartbeat and vision that the Porsche family had when starting the company!
